After much time here at Elgin Place, I am sad to say that not all that glitters is gold. Upon my arrival in mid-late 2017, all had seemed well. Of course being a new accommodation you would expect nothing less than for it to have a few faults, that would just be necessary. However, the staff tend to treat clients very poorly, i.e, arguing and yelling, feigning ignorance of a student upon them misplacing their key and having to let them in, not addressing issues that a student may have, the manager of the building is one of the most unreliable of them all. This, however, is just the first layer of this "immaculate" cake.
Here at iQ Elgin Place, we were promised spectacular study spaces and remarkable common areas. Now don't get me wrong, we do have some pretty lush areas to chill out in, far better than many places I have seen, however, the biggest complaint comes from that of the 3rd-floor study room. Here we have a number of study booths, tables, and even a sofa lounge and a chill green space! But we also have "sound-proof booths". Now, these soundproof booths would be perfect for a student like myself, I am a music student, however, they're just lacking one thing... THEY'RE NOT SOUNDPROOF!!! This is by far one of the biggest complaints I have heard from multiple people living in this accommodation. For the people living on the 3rd-floor, this means having to hear students such as myself, up past 2 am practicing the piano in one of those said booths.
Now for the icing on top of the cake, and I shall make this short-but-sweet, living here isn't all that bad if you don't mind people being able to hear your every word from outside your door (that's right, not crying in peace), or the noise of that lustrous piano, and being sassed and glared at constantly by the receptionists... Or maybe that's my special treatment? Anywho, the point is that if you want to live on a glorious street constantly surrounded by traffic and construction, this is the place for you!
