Where is Polimi located?

Two of Polytechnic University of Milan’s seven locations are based in the city of Milan, in the northern Italian region of Lombardy.

The Leonardo and Bovisa campuses are the university’s two main locations and they are accompanied by satellite campuses in the nearby cities of Como, Lecco, Cremona, Mantova and Piacenza across the region, as well as in Emilia-Romagna.

The campuses are located in the heart of Milan, where the majority of the research and teaching activities are based. Recognized as one of the world's four fashion capitals, Milan is home to some of the world’s biggest and most prestigious international fashion events and fairs including Milan Fashion Week, and the Milan Furniture Fair (Salone Internazionale del Mobile).

Milan is more than just a global capital of fashion and design though. This northern Italian city is also a financial hub that is home to the national stock exchange and it’s also renowned for its high-end restaurants and shops.

Compared to the Italian capital Rome, which offers a very rich historical heritage, Milan, the second-largest city in Italy, acts as an innovative Italian cultural trendsetter. Milan offers a very lively and engaging cultural environment and has a bright future.

Despite its over 2,000 years of history, Milan is still evolving as a city. More and more new, modern structures are replacing the old. The city is hosting the 2026 Winter Olympics and a part of its big investments are on infrastructure and services in order to aid its general push to become more of a global city.

However, despite progressive developments, the city has kept its natural beauty and remains true to its roots, striking a wonderful equilibrium between the evolving modern era and its rich historical heritage.
